Faster than a speeding bullet Oct 28, 2008 This drive is so FAST that it makes my Western Digital Passport appear to be spinning backward. The syncing software works perfectly initially and while performing incremental backups. I did not set up the Ceedo software as yet so I cannot comment on that. Did I say fast?? - Ultra-fast!! Add to that - the longest warranty (5 years!). Actually, I bought this drive for a friend and now I am totally envious.
So far so good Sep 15, 2008 I bought this product about a month ago. It works perfectly so far. Although i have to say that even if you implement the password through the software you can still access the disk (on a PC) through the computer screen. So that aspect is a little pointless. Other than that, I like the device so far. I will be back if the item fails. Although my understanding so far is that all external hard drives have a tendency to do so. I love having the extra space. Like i said, so far so good.
Perfect Sep 14, 2008 I ordered it from enumclaw and it was delivered next day, new condition, with ground shipping. Maybe it shipped from seattle, but hey, it works for me.

Used right- a great storage device. Sep 03, 2008 1) Do not use the software provided with this drive. Either get software somewhere else, or just format it and copy/paste your files to the drive for backup.
2) Use BOTH usb plugins... using just one can ruin your drive! And it's better if you first plug them both into your computer, then plugin the drive. Likewise, unplug the drive first when you're done.
3) Use "Safely remove hardware" in the tray before unplugging the drive. (Or "unmount" for Linux users.) Or shut down the computer before unplugging.
4) Don't drop it. Don't bang it around. Especially don't lift or bump it while it's plugged in! This could damage the drive or your data.
So far, this drive has functioned perfectly fine for me. (I've had it for 3 months.) I just formated it to FAT32 and use it to backup files on Windows and Linux via Copy/Paste. I gave this 4 stars because the software it comes with is junk. But I don't use it anyway. Treat this drive well, and I think you'll be happy.
Review of Seagate Drive Sep 02, 2008 I have used the product a couple of times in the week or so that I have used it and find the built in software very user un-friendly. Not east to develope a backup scheme. I will try help menues further, but off the top, it is not easy to use the drive for a full system or drive backup
