great product Oct 05, 2008 This modem was easy to install and seems to be doing everything I want it to.
excellent Sep 11, 2008 I like this item very much. It works well and the heat generated is very low. Also, the delivery is superb. It arrived very fast.
Died After 1 Yr 7 Mo. Aug 06, 2008 Bought this product and it worked flawlessly up until it died after 1 year and 7 months. Resets were very uncommon, happening once every 3 months or so, although these were probably only needed due to errors by the ISP. I did run this modem 24x7 365 which may have led to its demise, but also it may have just been a bad apple; therefore, I'm giving it a 4 star rating.
No Problems - Just Like to Want It Aug 02, 2008 This item is nothing less than you would prefer when buying technology. Take it out of the box and use it. Set it and forget it.

Motorola warranty procedure STINKS! Jul 17, 2008 I purchased this cable modem four months ago. It worked fine - for four months - then it started dropping the connection. Turns out, the connections for the ethernet cable are defective at the circuit board level. (No physical damage or stress caused the defect - it sits safely in a closed media closet.) Motorola agreed to replace it but I must pay for the shipping of the new one to me or else wait for two weeks while I send the defective one to them. Once they get it they will send another to me - "within 7 to 8 business days after they receive it". So, unless I want to be without internet/email for up to three weeks (including shipping time) I have to pay for them to ship the replacement to me. Over twelve dollars for the 2-day UPS option. They offer a 1-day option for twice the price! Then I still need to ship mine to them. I'm probably looking at about half the cost (in shipping charges) of a new one for a warranty replacement! In my opinion, if a manufacturer determines that their product is defective, all cost associated with the replacement under the warranty should be borne by the manufacturer not the consumer. I'm very disappointed with Motorola and will remember this lousy experience before purchasing any more of their products.
