Forget the Network Nov 10, 2008 I had massive data corruption with data transfered over 10/100 cat5 cable. ONLY use this product with USB, which makes the "Home Network" pointless.

Doesn't work as advertised Nov 25, 2007 I purchased this NAS (Network Attached Storage) hard drive for my home network because it had Ethernet interface (which makes it a NAS where it can be attached to the router and be used from any PC on the network through an IP address) in addition to USB interface. Unfortunately I started getting intermittent errors from Windows while copying files to this drive saying that the write failed and data has been lost. I called Iomega tech support and they said that this is not a "professional" drive (whatever this means) and it is just for the "home" networks and it will not work reliably until I switch to USB interface. This means that it is useless as NAS. I don't want to use USB interface because this means that I have to have a dedicated PC on my network with the drive attached to its USB port and keep it always turned on. I do not recommend buying this drive if you need NAS and there are cheaper and better alternatives for USB external drives (Western Digital, Maxtor etc.). I will not buy from IOMEGA again.
