4Adequate USB hub for a sterilized office  Nov 02, 2008
I don't want to sound grumpy about this USB hub. I've had my hub for more than a year now and it has worked with all of the flash drives I've plugged into it. The four ports on the back of the hub are too close for my liking.

I can't speak to the iPod shuffle (don't have one) but my digital camera plugs in nicely. For personal use, though, I'd like a little more design and personality to go along with the functionality.

4Elegant, clean design and easy to use...  Aug 19, 2008
I originally got this on discount at Best Buy as an impulse buy. This has proven to be very useful in terms of spreading the available usb ports on my computer. Although now, my computer has several of its own usb ports, I still keep it around. For portability, it's not very compact by design. I keep mine on the desktop hooked up to my printer, etc. So when I need to switch from desktop to laptop, I can easily move the devices without having to unplug every item. For ease of use, it loses a star. The ports are in the back, with a lone port on the top. The back ports making hiding the usb plugged devices easy, but it also makes plugging in new ones a pain. Only 3 ports in the back and a convenient one ono the top. Never had a problem with it in the few years I've owned it.

5USB 2.0 4 port HUB  May 19, 2008
The concept of turning one USB port into four easily accessible USB ports is great. We currently use the units we bought and not only is this a very practical and valuable product but being purchased as a used unit was an excellent value.

3Not all devices work  Dec 07, 2007
I have had my hub for four months. It is true that it is a small hub, but I like this fact. I like the USB port on the top which makes it easy to swap devices. I have plugged in a Canon digital camera, a Xerox printer, an iPod, and a Palm cradle. What does not work is my Lexar card reader.

3Power Issues  Nov 05, 2007
Many USB hubs are self powered - that means they draw all of the electricity they need in order to operate from the USB cable you connect from your computer to the hub. This USB hub actually has a power supply, yet it sporadically shuts off due to "strain on the hub" i.e. plugging in too many self-powered items which requires you to restart your computer before it will recognize the hub again. To put this into perspective, my setup includes a USB keyboard, USB CF card reader, and USB2 HD with power source. I occasionally use the top-loading port for my thumb drive. I found out later that this hub maxes out at 2 devices without a power adapter. Needless to say, I never thought I'd have power issues with this hub. I've had this thing for over two years and this is the only real complaint.
