5Wonderful Product  Aug 26, 2008
I got this item for my teenager. She loves to draw and is very good at it. But whenever she wanted to put something on the computer, it never came out right. With this she draws just as though she is using paper and it goes right onto the program. And she can send it to her friends on the web. I haven't been able to get on my computer as much since she got it.

This is a great product to use to make shirt designs and other creations. I love it! It is a great tool to use for many purposes.

4This Tablet works for Mac OS X  Aug 24, 2008
I recently ordered this tablet on July 23, 2008. I believe that this newer version is now compatible with Windows Vista and Mac OS X (Tiger and Leopard). I have created a few animations with it as well as come up with some website designs and I think it's a great product. Like most people, I don't really use the mouse that comes with it, but I did program the hot keys around the tablet so I won't have to move my mouse just to copy or paste something. The only problem I see is that sometimes the hot keys get in the way of my dock (on Mac OS X Leopard), which I tend to keep on the right side of my desktop. Also, the software programs that comes with the tablet do not work for Mac. But I already have Flash and Photoshop and this tablet works well in those environment, especially with the pressure sensitivity. The drivers for Mac can be found on the CD as well as on the official website. The tablet is also bigger than I thought it would be. Definitely recommend it for first time tablet users!

3Low cost alternative to Wacom  Aug 21, 2008
I purchased this unit for two reasons. First, it's very affordable compared to the Wacom. Second, it has a mouse, which should help reduce the clutter on my desk. If you are a professional graphic artist who needs to turn out quality work, then this unit is not for you. This is more for the casual artist or someone who rarely uses a tablet, and quality is not an issue. Here are some reasons why:

1. The pressure sensitivity is inconsistent. One second you're drawing great lines with the pen, the next second, the lines will seem very light. So, you increase the pressure more an more, then suddenly you have a dark, fat line. This seems to be related to the angle of the tip. You need to keep it vertical to get the pressure sensitivity to work right. It's not as natural to draw that way.

2. Sometimes, the performance gets very sluggish after a while with Photoshop. When you first use it, the performance is fluid and smooth. After a few minutes of use, the cursor jumps or skips around. The lines are still drawn, but the responsiveness is poor. My PC has 4GB RAM, and the image size was small, so it can't be due to a lack of memory. I can't pinpoint the reason why it happens. It could be the driver, Vista 32, or another program I have open at the same time.

Here are some addional things you need to consider:

A. If you only use the tablet mouse, the driver will cause some software to crash (blue screen of death) You will need to keep the regular mouse.

B. The mouse is tiny, similar to a miniature notebook mouse. It's pretty much useless for everyday use. You also need to raise it fairly high above the tablet in order to stop the cursor movement. Much higher than a laser mouse. Invitation for wrist injury.

C. The USB cable is short, so you'll need to get a hub. If your PC has a port in the front you'll be OK.

Overall, it's not a bad deal if you're a casual user. I had an old Wacom, but I only used it a few times. Not worth spending a lot for such little use. Since I didn't want to spend a lot of money for something I rarely use, this was the next best thing. The mouse was a complete disappointment, and is useless. I can live with using the pen in the vertical, but the occasional jittery performance is frustrating.

2Decent Tablet  Aug 19, 2008
I have never used a tablet before, so I don't have anything to compare to, but it works fine... with Vista. I have XP, and I kept getting an error that complained of logos not being able to work with the tablet software. It downloaded fine on my friend's Vista laptop, but it wont work at all on mine.
