4different model, but still cool  May 12, 2008
they must have been out of the squared off silver one, because the one i received in the mail is blue and rounded. i put a picture of what i got in the pictures section at the top of the page. it came with a silver string/necklace thing that looks pretty lame. The little keychain ring seams flimsy, and i don't trust it. otherwise, the case seems sturdy enough, and seals very tightly. i like that you can see some of the circuitry through the plastic once it is open.

average write speeds and whatnot.

i give it four stars because the price is pretty hard to beat.

5Flash Memory  Aug 09, 2007
This is an excellent device for backup of data. It surpasses any CD, DVD, or disk drive. I highly recommend it.

It works fine, I have Portable Apps, installed on it in addition to Open Office.

1Waste of money  Jun 27, 2007
I bought this to replace my old 256MB (still working despite extensive abuse) thumb drive. Well, I've had it for about a month now and it's dead. In the course of one afternoon it went from loading up every time I put it in a computer to being "An unrecognized device" in every computer I put it into (it was a gradual process over a couple hours strangely enough). This is the first product I've ever bought from dane electric, and it will surely be the last. Next time I'll pay more attention to the brand name and go with a better known brand rather than price.

Oh, and I'll also toss out there that I've been using computers for 20 years now, and have been building computers for many years, so it's not a case of computer literacy.

1Don't buy from Dane-Elec  Apr 20, 2007
I purchased one of these and it went bad after about two months. Unfortunately, I've spent hours trying to get Dane-Elec to replace it, with no luck. I never get replies to notes sent to their techsupport e-mail address, and when I call them I always end up in the voice mail of someone who never returns my calls. I'd suggest another manufacturer.
