4A good laptop  Jan 16, 2008
This is a solid product, all the necessary and useful items are there, and some niceties like a wireless-off switch on the front, a touch-mouse off switch by the touch-mouse pad. The keyboard has a good feel to it, and the computer is not heavy, nor does it run very hot. Now the screen is difficult to see when watching dark movie scenes (I mean dark as in not well-lit!), but the well-lit pictures look fine, and the wide-screen is mostly used for movies.

Note that you will need to buy a 4-pin to 6-pin Firewire cable if you want to use the Firewire port. Windows Vista seems to have the needed drivers for my USB / Firewire peripherals nowadays, so that is not a complaint about setting up computers with this operating system any more.

The cpu is a bit underpowered for computationally intensive tasks (with the 1.8 Ghz cpu), it's also somewhat slow even with dual tasks on the dual-core, but the two processors certainly help if you're multitasking.

All in all, I'm satisfied, after turning off the Windows Vista User Account Control, of course!
