A switch serves the same function as a hub in a network design - tying your network equipment together. But unlike a simple-minded hub which divides the network's bandwidth among all the attached devices, a switch delivers full network speeds at each port. Installing this cost-effective 5-Port 10/100 Switch can potentially increase your network speed by five times! It's the perfect way of integrating 10Mbps Ethernet and 100Mbps Fast Ethernet devices, too. All five ports are auto speed negotiating, and have automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover detection, so you don't have to worry about the cable type. Each port independently negotiates for best speed and half- or full-duplex mode, for up to 200Mbps of bandwidth per port. Fast store-and-forward switching prevents damaged packets from being passed on into the network. The new ultra-compact case design is sure to fit into your workgroup environment. Let the Linksys 5-Port 10/100 Switch kick your 10/100 network into high gear. | | | |

Great device perfect as advertised!!!! Dec 03, 2008 Thank you for getting the package to me in a reasonable time. It works great. You are the best. Thanks.
Great value - why use a hub Nov 02, 2008 I use two of these in my current network. One is near my "computer desk" and the other behind my entertainment center. The one behind the desk is attached to a WRT54G router (which hooks to the cable modem), printer, two NAS drives, and a 50' cable to the entertainment center. That one is attached to a TiVo, Slingbox and PS3.
Setup was a breeze. Just plug them in and hook up your RJ45s and you're good to go. I was running the TiVo on a 802.11b wireless connection and the Slingbox wired. When I got the PS3 I decided that instead of running wires, I'd just put this switch behind the cabinet. or the price, I couldn't see buying hubs and sharing the 100 Mb with all the devices. This way all the devices get ~100 Mb.
It's small and easy to hide, but looks nice if you want to leave it out. I really like this switch. If you're wired and using 100 Mb, this is a great step up from hubs.
Couldn't be any easier Apr 22, 2008 Wish everything worked this well. Plug it in and forget about it. Bought one and it worked so well that I didn't hesitate to buy it again when I needed a second one.
Worked great with MAC Apr 06, 2008 My fourteen year old son used this switch to conect our Mac Pro, HP all in one laser printer and an old Gateway running Linux to an Airport Extreme. It worked great from the first try without any problems.
Just what I needed! Feb 29, 2008 This switch is working just as I expected. I also have their older version which also still works.
