Good Printer Aug 13, 2008 Love this printer. Great for basic B&W prints. Good price for a laser printer! Also, good aftermarket toner to be found for this printer.
Network Printer + Wireless Router = Perfect Aug 13, 2008 There have been tons of glowing reviews for this printer, and I have to report that after a year of owning it, I completely agree with them. I was a little slow in getting it configured so we could print from PC and a Mac laptops because it took a little time (it took longer to configure the PC; not a surprise) and trial and error. Here's a quick PRO and CON list:
PROS - Prints fast, relatively small footprint, good print quality
CONS - A little on the noisy side, but I've heard much worse
Great Limited Use Home Printer Jun 16, 2008 I use my printer rarely so I am not experiencing the problems others have mentioned. It has worked fine so far (two months) but I print maybe 10 sheets a week at most. It did keep tripping my battery backup circuit breaker so I had to put it on it's own circuit, but so far no big problems.
Very reliable laser printer Jun 14, 2008 I have been using this printer for about half a year, and absolutely love it. I have it plugged into a wireless router, so all of the computers (Mac and PCs) in my house can use it. Installing the drivers was an easy process, as was getting it networked. I don't do a whole lot of printing, mainly school documents, so I haven't even replaced the toner cartridge yet. Unlike ink jet printers, you don't have to worry about the toner in laser printers drying up over time, or clogging the ink heads. Toner is a very fine powder, not liquid ink, so it never dries up. I have found this printer very reliable, it has never jammed or let me down. Printing in envelopes is surprisingly easy, just insert it in the manual feed slot on the printer and it comes out perfect.
I haven't had any big problems with paper curling after coming out of the printer. Sometimes (depending on the humidity level I am told) the sheets are a little curled, but they generally flatten out once cooled and do not present an issue.
great printer Jun 05, 2008 This printer is totally worth the money. If you mostly care to print things in black/white you'll get much more milage out of the ink for this printer than you would with a bubble jet printer.
Perfect for college students, especially graduate students who have to print out lots of academic papers from the web.
Look at it this way: Ink jet cartridge costs $30 - $50 and you get a few hundred sheets. The toner cartridge for this printer costs about $65 and you get about 20,000 sheets.
The network connectivity is nice if you have a laptop with wireless. You hook it into your wireless router (via an eternet cable), set up a few options, and then you can print from any room in the house. If you don't mind having to walk up to the printer and plugging in a cable every time you print something, then there's a cheaper model without the network connectivity.
