The Mighty Mouse combines the capability of a multibutton mouse with Apple's signature top-shell design for both form and function. Mighty Mouse's Scroll Ball features miniature sensors that allow you to manipulate what appears on your screen merely by moving your finger. The 360-degrees scrolling perfectly positions to roll smoothly under just one finger. Touch-sensitive technology under Mighty Mouse's seamless top shell detect where you're clicking, transforming your sleek, one-button mouse into a two-button wonder. Pan images in iPhoto, view timelines in iMovie HD and Final Cut Pro, traverse bars in GarageBand and Logic Pro while sipping your morning cup of coffee or typing. Pre-programmed to launch Dashboard, Mighty Mouse's side buttons show you all your open windows in Expose with a squeeze. Mac OS X gives you the capability to choose any application from the intuitive System Preference pane.

This is by far the worst computer product I own. It will fail you time and time again!!! I threw it against the wall 3 times, stomped on it, punched it, put it in a sleeper hold, and this all after it started malfunctioning on its own. Pitiful!!!

5Works very well, good ergonomics (at least for me)  Nov 15, 2008
I like the mouse - I have it configured as a three-button-mouse and use the scroll ball all the time. It is accurate, fits my hands well, and hasn't let me down yet (the track ball get clogged up somtimes, but so far I've always been able to get it working again by using a moist towel and rubbing the track ball back and forth really hard - it gets unclogged relatively easily that way). If it does byte the dust (mice do after some time), I will not hesitate to order another one (well, I have three already...)

1Horrible mouse  Nov 13, 2008
Do not be affected by the outer beauty of this mouse. It is the worst mouse I ever seen. Buttons can not be pressed together, buttons are not distinguished, so you press right button and the left get pressed instead. Imagine selecting huge piece of text and then press the right button for options, and the left got pressed and you lose all the selected text. The scroll is awful, as it simply cannot be used after few days. Cleaning it is simply impossible to do. My might mouse now lives with the mice in garbage.

5excellent design serves function without fluff  Nov 12, 2008
Contrary to popular cut-and-paste 'witticisms', this mouse is designed on a function-leading-form logic.

Can't find fault in this mouse, although the wireless version is a worthless and heavy device to be avoided at all costs. I use this thing all day long, every day, working with adobe products. I prefer it to 'ergonomic' designs that only allow your hand to be in one grip position. With this mouse, you can finesse it with different grips, and it weighs less - nice when brushing or moving things around rapidly.

When used with Apple's mouse control panel, you can customize or disable buttons to suit your needs. This is where most complaints are coming from - you can have two-click or one-click, and you have to know which one you are using as well as any other functions. The best thing is to turn everything off for the first day or so, then add the other functions slowly.

Final note: this mouse has teflon sliders on the bottom. The optical sensor is very sensitive. Try it out on different smooth materials. If it likes the surface, you have a great mousepad. It's best for your wrist if you get the hardest, slickest surface possible - even the actual surface of the desk will work in some cases. Once you get used to sliding this mouse around on a slick surface, you'll get in tune with an effortless way to mouse.

2Pretty but practically unusable. Go Logitech.  Nov 05, 2008
Eventually a mouse's scroll wheel/ball will need to be cleaned. This is a fact that every computer user on the planet understands and accepts.

Except Apple computer engineers.

You can't clean the inside of an Apple Mighty Mouse, and that's a design flaw, plain and simple. After 3-6 months of use, it will become gunked up and will stop working. Additionally, the side buttons are unusable, and my guess is that these were never properly vetted by the engineers during R&D.

This is a flawed product.
