5Best Computer Money Can Buy  Dec 30, 2007
The 8-core Mac Pro is easily the best computer you can buy for any amount of money. I'm running Leopard on mine with Spaces configured for 6 desktops, and with 2 Dell 1920 by 1200 LCD displays connected that gives me effectively 12 desktops, each running a program or two completely independently of the others.

I'm able to run a number of RAM and CPU greedy applications at the same time because OS X does a very, very effective job of spreading the various threads run by programs among the 8 CPUs.

I took mine up to 1.5 Terabytes of HD with 4 Seagate 750gb hard drives, and 8GB of Ram. It's not cheap, but the best seldom is. I can not imagine anyone regretting buying a Mac Pro. Everything about this computer just screams Work of Art! Even the massive aluminum side panel that you can remove without any tools is beautifully cast. To add hard drives you just slide a carrier out of it's slot and use the four pre-attached screws. No cables are required, the carrier slides perfectly into place, and your new hard drive connects directly to the motherboard.

To add RAM you simply slide a RAM carrier card out of it's slot, pop in your memory, and slide the card back in, easy peasy. If I could give the Mac Pro 30 stars I would.

Great machine. It was a nice upgrade from my G5. I am a complete Mac convert.
