5Good upgrade for M2N68-LA IVY Narra board.  Dec 08, 2008
Had to snag one of these used off of ebay for around 50 bucks, replaced my x2 3600 1.9 ghz with it for a small boost at a small cost. This was put into a Compaq SR5113WM/M2N68-LA IVY. This is the max speed of processor my board can support.

I'm using the stock hsf and Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste along with Cool N Quiet. At 5-25% locked % usage this cpu is very quiet (clocked at 1 Ghz) and cold (never goes above 12C on either core). I wanna keep this thing cold to make it last, 4800 Brisbanes are getting hard to find.

For gaming or video editing, I switch to 100% idle/100% load and temps vary from 28C to upper 30's.

This cpu can handle most modern games (GTA4 PC might be pushing it), but Crysis is easily playable along with my 9600GT.

My Adobe Premiere Elements 4 with my 3600 took around 14 seconds to load. With the 4800, its cut down to 8 seconds.

If you have the common budget OEM Narra board/3600 combo, then this is the upgrade to get.

5energy saving - CPU- smooth running  Dec 13, 2007
This processor from AMD runs very cool (32C to 43C) on a Asus M2a motherboard with the hdmi card interface. The chip is very smooth and allows me to burn dvd and cd's quickly. I can do other things while longer processes are going on with no trouble. I am running a Novel Suse Enterprise Desktop 10 sp1 with a Vmware6 workstation for Linux that has (2) windows systems (2000 and XP) running inside it. The systems all can be up and running and the processor continues to work just fine. I want to get another one to set up a new server system as this one worked so well.
